2021 James Halliday Australian Chardonnay & Cabernet Challenge Collaboration
The James Halliday Australian Chardonnay and Cabernet Challenges will be ‘blended’ and judged simultaneously for the first time in 2021.
Due to ongoing travel restrictions and state lockdowns, judging has been postponed and new the dates will be confirmed soon.
Changes have been made to the judging team to mitigate sudden border closures.
This show will be judged to completion as we have comprehensive contingency plans and significant flexibility with our venue regarding the timing of judging.
The judges for the Challenges in 2021 are:
Chris Crawford – Chair Tim Perrin
Sarah Crowe Kayleen Reynolds
Matt Harrop Dylan McMahon
Ben Portet Isabelle Agnes
Luke Lomax Ben Mullen
The James Halliday Australian Chardonnay and Cabernet Challenge is a celebration of the two varieties and Australia’s outstanding regional diversity. Margaret River Wine and Wine Yarra Valley will collaborate and jointly host the Chardonnay and Cabernet Challenges. They will be judged in the Yarra Valley in August this year and then will move between the two regions on alternate years.
The highest pointed wines for each variety will be rewarded with the James Halliday Trophy and the regional winners with scores of 95 points or more are also recognised.
2021 entries have closed.
